Yamaha Launch 250cc Bike Mid OF The Year 2011 In India

Yamaha 250CC

With the 250cc revolution gathering momentum in the country, Yamaha India has decided to respond to the call with their own 250cc machine, according to a piece in BikeIndia. The current front runner in this race has been Honda with the CBR250R which has had a very good response. 1800 CBR250R’s were booked in the first month itself.

We have also been receiving news about Bajaj Auto introducing a KTM 200cc bike. Tests of the bike are still underway and we might see the bike in showrooms by late 2011. Both the KTM and Honda will be priced upwards of INR 1.2 lakh. Infact, the list price of a CBR250R without ABS is INR 1.5 lakh.

Now, Yamaha need to price their bike around this figure to compete with the likes of Bajaj and Honda. The latest piece of buzz doing the rounds is that the Japanese bike maker will bring the Fazer 250. However, we doubt this, as the Fazer looks outdated considering the fact that the Honda CBR250R and the KTM Duke 200 look not just brilliant, but are also packed to the gills with some cutting edge technology.

The Yamaha Scorpio Z-225 would be a better option mainly because the Indian customer is familiar with the FZ series and the 150cc version of the bike has been doing well in the country. Secondly, buyers love the looks of the FZ and giving it a more powerful heart would only help improve the image of the bike. By doing this, Yamaha India might also be able to price the FZ22s at INR 1 Lakh, which makes it excellent value. Tell us what do you think in the comments section below!
